We have been amazed at the generosity of our families in our recent Buddy Workout- held to raise money for the NSPCC. A fantastic amount of £2219.50 was raised by our children. A special thank-you to our Reception children, who won the award for the best performing class!
We have held another very successful family Christmas Craft afternoon, with so many families working together to create their annual Christmas Card. All 3 sessions throughout the afternoon and evening were full, which was fantastic to see. A big thank you to Mrs Limer and Miss Howes for running this fantastic event!
The whole school took part in an aerobic work-out as part of a sponsored event to raise money for the NSPCC. All of the children tried really hard in a range of exercises. A reminder that all forms and money needs to be in by the end of term.
We have had a lovely first half-term, welcoming our new Reception class. All of the children are a delight and have settled in so well. They have shared a lovely Welcome Mass and Assembly with Y6 and have already taken part in so many school events! Well done Reception!
Key Stage 1 led us in a beautiful Harvest Mass last Wednesday. The children read and sang beautifully and Y2 even used their ICT skills to produce some lovely Harvest pictures. We are very grateful for all the kind donations of food, which have been sent on to the People’s Kitchen.
On Friday, St. Matthew’s took part in Save the Children’s annual Den Day. The buddies decided that they would like to work together on this exciting project and so earlier in the week, they got together to plan their exciting dens. They all had great fun making and playing in their secret hide-outs!
This morning, Reception took part in a multi-skills event at Temple Park, in South Shields. The children played cricket, dodge-ball and developed their throwing and catching skills. We certainly have a few budding Olympians in our midst. Here are some photos: Miss Page
We had a tremendous response to our Colours for Cancer Day on Friday. The children really took on board their chosen colours and they all looked fantastic! Well done to all! We have raised £217.95 up to date.
