Year 3 at the Cricket

Year 3 took part in an introduction to cricket festival at South Shields Cricket Club. The aim of the day was to improve their cricket skills whilst taking part in games against other schools. It was brilliant to see who much improvement there was from all of Year 3. We certainly have some talent ready for the Y5/6 competition in a couple of years time!

Our after-school ‘Learn to ride’ bike club has been a huge success. So many of our younger pupils can now confidently ride their bikes and they understand a lot more about bike safety.

Y3/4 Mariner’s Cup

A team of Y3/4 children attended the inaugural Mariners Cup tournament, which was held at South Shields Football Club. The team played incredibly well, winning 3, drawing one and losing one. World Book Day

We had a great time celebrating World Book Day. Each class looked at a particular author and dressed up as a character from a particular book. We held a parade at the start of the day! The standard of the costumes was possibly the best standard we’ve ever had! Well done to all!

South Tyneside Cross Country- Key Stage 2

33 members of Key Stage 2 took part in the annual cross-country championships at Temple Park today. All of our children performed incredibly well – with some super individual performances. A special mention for our Year 3 girls, who had to run the course twice! 🙂 Well done Team Matthew’s!
