Our Y4 and Y6 hockey teams represented South Tyneside today in the hockey county finals at The Parks Centre, North Shields. Y4 played incredibly well and won their first game 2-0 – thanks to goals from Roman. They went on to win another 2 games and just missed out on a spot in the semi-finals.Continue Reading

Y4 performed incredibly well at the inaugural South Tyneside Sportshall Athletic Finals this morning. Competing in a range of running and field events, the team achieved some fantastic results and were great at supporting each other. Well done Year 4!
Y4 have spent time on their bikes this week, learning how to use their bikes correctly and how to keep themselves safe. This was an introductory session for a week-long course in Y5. Well done Y4!
We had a great time celebrating World Book Day. Each class looked at a particular author and dressed up as a character from a particular book. We held a parade at the start of the day! The choir sang beautifully at The Big Sing last night, singing with choirs from our cluster primary schools – St Bede’s, Jarrow, St Mary’s and St Josephs. It was a lovely celebration and fantastic to see so many people in St Matthew’s Church.

33 members of Key Stage 2 took part in the annual cross-country championships at Temple Park today. All of our children performed incredibly well – with some super individual performances. A special mention for our Year 3 girls, who had to run the course twice! 🙂 Well done Team Matthew’s!
