National Numeracy Day Wednesday 18th May 2022

This Wednesday 18th May  is National Numeracy Day! The pupils of St Matthew’s Catholic Primary School will be participating in lots of fun, exciting activities and challenges to help support their learning in maths! We are even going to try and be part of a Guinness World Record with Times Tables Rock Stars. Adults can get involved and even take a numeracy challenge of their own online using the following link. There are also links to videos and fun activities to do at home with your children too!

Year 6 were recently set the challenge to create some artwork to celebrate the disciples sharing the Last Supper with Jesus. We think that they have produced some beautiful pieces.

Yesterday, the St Matthew’s Swim Team for 2022 took part in the South of Tyne Swimming Finals at Haven Point in South Shields, against the finalists from Gateshead and South Tyneside. We are delighted to share that Sam in Y6 won the competition to design this year’s Christmas Card for our MP Kate Osbourne. Sam was awarded his own signed copy of the card and a special water bottle from the Houses of Parliament. A great achievement. Well done, Sam!
